Incivility Wellbeing Conceptual Review
TL;DR
A book-length case that academic incivility isn't a discipline problem — it is a failure of social-emotional design in how we build learning environments.
Abstract
This Springer Briefs volume argues that academic incivility is better understood as a consequence of learning-environment design than as a failure of student character. Drawing on research in organizational behaviour, educational psychology, and social-emotional competence, the authors propose a two-pronged remedy: cultivating SEL competencies in faculty and students, and redesigning classroom and institutional environments so that civility becomes the path of least resistance.
